What is Domain Life Cycle ?

Domain is Registered or Renewed:
The domain life cycle starts when it is available, Domain name can be registered or renewed for a period between 1-10 years, you will be able to search through the available domain names using domain registrar.

Domain Name Expires, Beginning of Renewal Grace Period:
Once the domain is expired, it will enter “Renewal Grace Period” which varies from 30 to 40 days based on domain extension and registrar. During tthe grace period, the domain owner can renew their domain names at the regular price without penalty.
Note:You can’t transfer the domain to other domain registrar, unless you renew the domain.

End of Renewal Grace Period, Beginning of Redemption Period:
At the end of Renewal Grace Period, domain name is deleted by registrar and it enters the "Redemption Period" of 30 days. During the redemption period, the domain owner can redeem their domain name by paying redemption fee in addition to the cost of one year domain renewal. Redemption fee varies for each domain extension.
During redemption period, you may notice the domain's expiration date in WHOIS lookup has moved ahead one year in the registry database. This is a temporary auto renewal at the registry

Redemption Period Ends, Queued for Deletion:
After 60 days of redemption period ends ( assuming Redemption Grace Period of 30 days), Domain name will be placed into “ Pending Delete” status at  domain registry for upto 5 days, During this time, domain can’t be redeemed, recovered or renewed. They only way to get the domain back, you have to wait until domain name is dropped by the domain registry and made available for registration.

Domain Name is Deleted, Made Available for Registration:
After the redemption period, domain name enters the pending delete period of 5 days, At this time, domain can’t be restored. It will be available to generic public for registration on first come first serve basis.
