SSL verifies the credentials of the user and the web server and then it redirects verified users to a secured connection (i.e. HTTPS). You can use self-signed certificate or can purchase it from the certificate authority(CA).
The certificates purchased from CA are costly, but self signed certificates are its alternatives. Both certificates provide encryption, but self-signed certificate generates a browser warning page
Following are the steps to redirect cPanel/WHM or Webmail to an encrypted connection using cPanel self signed certificate:
- Login to your WHM
- Select Server Configuration option
- Select Tweak Settings option
- Move to Redirection tab
